From [livejournal.com profile] lareinemisere:

1. My username is ____ because ____.
2. My journal is titled ____ because ____.
3. My subtitle is ____ because ____.
4. My friends page is called ____ because ____.
5. My default userpic is ____ because ____.

1. My username is "alobear" because Aloysius was already taken (Aloysius has been my online name ever since I read Brideshead Revisited and fell in love with Sebastien Flyte and his wonderful bear). Aloysius as a username has been variously lengthened to "Aloysius T. Bear" and shorteneing to "Alo", so "alobear" seemed a reasonable amalgamation of the two.

2. My journal is titled "Chez Aloysius" because I always thought that would be a cool name for a house, and this is essentially where I "live" online, and also to let people know that Aloysius is my full online name.

3. My subtitle is "Occasional Thoughts and Reviews" because my main plan on starting a live journal was to restrict myself to book and film reviews, but I knew I would end up putting random thoughts and bits and pieces about life on here as well. The "occasionally" is because I also knew I wouldn't update very often.

4. My friends page is called "Apparently other people I know do this too..." as a self-mocking reference to my woeful ignorance of all things live journal before meeting [livejournal.com profile] cholten99.

4. My default userpic is of Aloysius the teddy bear from the TV adaptation of Brideshead Revisited, for reasons that should be fairly obvious.

I was up early this morning, so I wandered along to the stables to watch [livejournal.com profile] markwelham and [livejournal.com profile] vampadvocate riding, which was great fun. It was a shame [livejournal.com profile] siroswold and [livejournal.com profile] weaselbitch weren't there as well. I've never actually watched a riding lesson before, so it was really interesting to see other people doing something that I've been doing for so long. For only a third lesson, [livejournal.com profile] markwelham did brilliantly with the rising trot, and [livejournal.com profile] vampadvocate showed her greater experience with good posture and admirable control of her horse. I won't be able to fulfil my offer to give [livejournal.com profile] siroswold pointers on his riding style by watching another of the lessons, because I got over-excited and signed up for an intermediate class for myself next Sunday at 9am. I was hoping there'd be a lesson at 10am, so I could watch first and ride later, but unfortunately 9am was all they had.
