Avengers Again
May. 2nd, 2015 11:32 pmJust got back from a second viewing of Avengers: Age of Ultron.
I'm so glad we went again, because I enjoyed it a lot more this time around, as I had thought I would.
My favourite aspects of the fight sequences were the teamwork between Thor and Cap. They've evidently been working really hard on their routines, since they had several new moves combining the hammer and the shield, which were really cool.
It was also funnier than I remembered, though I noticed a slight issue with the overall structure. There were eight or nine funny bits and lots of cool moments in the first 45 minutes. There were nine or ten funny moments and lots of cool bits in the last 45 minutes. But the middle 45 minutes were a bit of a drag... I realise this was important to the story arc, in terms of their sense of defeat, but it made the film seem quite inconsistent.
Lastly, I really don't think turning into a giant green rage monster is really the greatest threat Bruce Banner poses to the world. I'm much more concerned by how impressionable he is! Tony suggests a really bad idea, Bruce refuses to help because it's a bad idea, Tony bats his eyes and Bruce just folds like a cheap umbrella - twice!!
Oh, and by the way - The Vision is awesome!!!
