John Green and his brother, Hank, run the Project for Awesome on YouTube every year to raise money for charity.  For a couple of projects, John wrote what he termed "really bad zombie novellas" and gave them away to people who made donations.  They are now freely available on the internet (I have made donations to their Kiva group, so I'm not just stealing the stories without paying for them!) and I read them both this week.

Zombiecorns and The Battle for Banks Island were not nearly as silly as I thought they would be.  In fact, while the premise is complete bobbins, the execution of both stories is really well done, and pretty bleak.  Zombies obsessed with planting, cultivating and force-feeding humans with infected corn don't sound as if they would make for a very serious story, but I'm not sure John knows how to write light-hearted!

I certainly wouldn't call either story "really bad" - I found them both very affecting, if not very jolly.
