It's actually quite different to the normal set-up - there's no major co-incidence that drags him into a wildly improbable scenario, and there's some interesting back-story stuff that adds some depth to his character. I also particularly like one of the minor characters, and I'm hoping she might turn up again later in the series.
Other than that, Reacher is still really annoying in terms of his lack of communication. There are several occasions where he works out something important and then flatly refuses to give the information to the people who need it, instead forcing them to work it out for themselves by asking them gradually more leading questions. It's a great teaching tactic - but somewhat ridiculous in circumstances where you're trying to prevent an assassination...
Still, good fun all round.
