Blood Rites is the next in the Harry Dresden series by Jim Butcher, which I listened to as an audiobook last week.  I really enjoy these books, not least because James Marsters is such a great narrator.  He is very much Harry in my head now - very dry and laconic, but with plenty of self-deprecating humour.  This was a good plot, with some interesting peripheral characters, and a fair amount of emotional impact.  A solid addition to the series.

While in Barcelona this week, Dave and I watched the recent adaptation of Trollope's Doctor Thorne.  I've seen Tom Hollander in quite a lot of stuff now, and he's always good, plus he seems to be avoiding typecasting by taking on quite varied parts in things (unlike Rebecca Front, who was basically just reprising her role from War & Peace).  This was a very good production, with a good cast, and mostly strong performances, and we really enjoyed it.  The moral, though, seemed to be - money solves everything, which is a little problematical - would it really have been so terrible for Frank to have to work for a living?
