Yesterday, I rewatched Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (still good), then went to see Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation in the cinema (also good).  It was suitably ridiculous, and highly enjoyable.  The introduction of Simon Pegg's character last time around really lifted the series from "taking itself way too seriously" to "just the right level of silly amidst the action".  Benji manages to inject a brilliant level of humour into proceedings, without being over the top.  He was actually almost more the focus of the film than Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt, though the ensemble nature of the MI team format was still present - Brandt (ooh, Jeremy Renner) had a reasonable amount to do, and it was nice to see Luther back in the group.  Tom Cruise can certainly still carry an action movie, and the set pieces were high octane and generally very clever.  Everybody seemed to be having a good time, which always lends an extra level of enjoyment to this kind of movie.  Lots of fun.
