March Upcountry review
Jul. 2nd, 2010 04:07 pmSince I'm enjoying the Safehold series so much, I thought I would try some of David Weber's other books. March Upcountry is the first in a series he co-wrote with John Ringo. It tells the tale of an arrogant, uncaring prince, who learns valuable life lessons when he becomes stranded on a hostile planet along with his marine bodyguards. It's a classic story, but well-told, with lots of suspense, some well-placed humour, and plenty of very likeable characters. There was perhaps a little too much detail about weapons manufacturing and battle strategy, but overall it was a good read, and I'll probably move on to the others at some point.
