I finished listen to the third D&D podcast at the gym yesterday, and it was just as entertaining as the other two.  The players learned a valuable lesson that they should never split the party, as Wil Wheaton's Aeolfell went off on his own, was chased into a pit of acid by a gelatinous cube and actually died, which came as rather a shock to all concerned.  So, the fate of the fourth D&D podcast is now uncertain - will they let Wil roll up a new character, and will he want to, considering how much time and effort he invested into his first one?

As my birthday treat, Dave paid for cinema tickets last night and we went to see 9.  Reviews had me expected something flat and depthless, but with stunning visuals.  The visuals were certainly very good, and the plot was indeed rather weak, but I thought all the characters were well-drawn and appealing, and that there was an awful lot of ideology expressed.  I didn't agree with a lot of it, but there was anti-technology sentiment, criticism of organised religion, support for the questioning of authority, a brief (and perhaps overly interpreted by me) anti-drugs message, and a wibbly conclusion about the freeing of spirits.  It certainly prompted quite a lot of discussion on the journey home, and overall I thought it was pretty good.
