D&D Pocast 1 review
Jul. 11th, 2009 05:24 pmA couple of months ago, I had a sudden idiotic realisation that I could listen to my ipod while I was clearing litter from the carpark, which made that exercise much more enjoyable. The next in my series of "ipods work outside the gym" epiphanies occurred today, when I realised that I could listen to it whilst cleaning the flat, which made that exercise much more enjoyable, too!
So, I reached the end of the first Penny Arcade D&D podcast, which I had decided to download because I'd quite enjoyed the second one. It was actually quite fun to listen to them the wrong way round, as I got to discover the origins of the in-jokes that were evident in the second one as I went along. The player characters sucked just as badly as in the second one, and nearly all died more than once, but that just made the whole thing that much more entertaining.
The best part was the development of the relationship between Binwin Bronzebottom, the Dwarven warrior, and Jim Darkmagic (of the New Hampshire Darkmagics), the human mage. It eventually resulted in the guy playing the dwarf uttering the immortal line: "So, I'm lying unconscious on the ground, slowly bleeding to death, and your response to this situation is to set me on fire???"
All very silly, but pretty cool, all the same.
