Powers 5-8 reviews
Mar. 25th, 2009 01:27 pmA welcome return to form for the next 4 instalments of the Powers series, with 7 and 8 in particular being really excellent. I won't go into plot details, as quintus_marcius has yet to read them, but thoroughly enjoyable all round, with some excellent revelations about characters' backstories, and some really interesting arc plot. I think 7 is my favourite volume in the series so far, though it doesn't remotely stand alone and wouldn't make much sense without reading the rest.
What I like about this series is that the creators have obviously put a lot of thought into what the world would be like if there were tons of super-powered people all over the place. They've come up with some really good and quite original premises, and the consequences of certain events are very believable.
Still pretty icky in places, but not close to my threshold yet!
