Last Tuesday, Dave and I went to a recreation of the court martial of Admiral Byng at Temple.  An unfortunate set of circumstances makes this my first live entertainment negative review.  I was really tired, I was sitting behind a pillar so I couldn't see any of the participants, the acoustics were so bad it was difficult to make out what anyone was sayd, and when I did make out the words I mostly didn't understand them.  I fell asleep.

Yesterday, I got a surprise trip to the Footloose stage show with my wonderful parents.  It wasn't as good as the film, but it had a lot of energy, some great songs, and some good dancing.  I love musicals, and this was a fun one.

Then, when we got home, we watched Waitress, a sweet, quirky film about - you've guessed it - a waitress.  There was a lot of pie making, Nathan Fillion "increasing the quality of the movie by 27 per cent with his charming befuddlement" (Empire's words, not mine, but certainly true), and some fun peripheral characters.  I object to the conclusion that all problems can be solved by spawning, but overall it was a good way to spend a couple of hours.

Today may herald a trip to the Trafford Centre - though the usual accompanying cinema visit will not be occurring, as there is *nothing* on that I remotely want to see, and there hasn't been for some weeks now.
