Morality Play review
Nov. 17th, 2008 08:40 pmMorality Play by Barry Unsworth is another Booker shortlist title - it's about a group of medieval players, who arrive in a town where a murder has occurred, and decide to investigate the crime and devise a play to present the truth to the townspeople. It's a really interesting idea, and it's well executed but, as with a lot of the Booker shortlist titles I've read recently, it's quite remote, and none of the characters are particularly likeable. At least it's not depressing, which makes a nice change, and the way in which the story unfolds is certainly skilful.
