Notes From An Exhibition review

By far the best book I've read so far this week, though not exactly particularly jolly. It was the story of a bi-polar artist and her family, told in fragments out of order, from different points of view to build up a picture of a complicated life. I think I would have put the last two chapters the other way round, which would have provided a more hopeful and more definite conclusion. As it was, it ended with the saddest episode of the whole history, rather abruptly, but it was still very good. I've read blurbs for several of Gale's other books, which sound much more interesting plotwise, so I think I'll invest in a few more.
