The second in the Flashman series by George MacDonald Fraser was even more entertaining and ridiculous than the first one.  I'm sure they are more satisfying if you know the history they are based on, but I very much enjoy reading about Flashy's exploits regardless.  This one involved a bizarre plot, orchestrated by Bismarck, in which Flashman impersonated a Danish Prince, supposedly in order to secure said Prince's marriage to an important Duchess.  Needless to say, the details and consequences were insane and wildly improbable, but I just can't help but be interested to see what happens next, despite Flashman's less than exemplary character.  A very good read.
