I remember the TV series of Alien Nation with great fondness, and the film has secured in my mind that it would be a very bad idea to revisit the show, since it's unlikely to be as good as I remember.

The film wasn't *bad* per se - but it wasn't particularly good, either. Apparently, making some of the characters aliens is enough of an original touch to warrant the plot being entirely made up of 80s police drama cliches. Plus, I understand that making the hero a bigoted asshole allows character development of him growing to appreciate his alien partner, but it still means he's a bigoted asshole for the majority of the film, and this does not make for enjoyable character bonding on my part.

Still, it had its moments, I suppose, and Dave was very useful in translating the alien dialogue when the subtitles didn't work. Interesting choice for Terence Stamp, too.
