Unconscious programming
Jun. 26th, 2006 05:00 pmI'm reading a very cool book at the moment - Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. It's all about our unconscious programming and how we can use this to make split-second decisions about things, but also how it can affect our behaviour in detrimental ways. He labours his main point quite a bit - all his examples point to essentially the same thing, but the examples themselves are reallly interesting.
He cites a study being done at Harvard at the moment on implicit prejudices we all have, which may not correspond to our conscious opinions. There are loads of tests you can do to find out how your unconscious mind associates certain things with being good or bad.
The site is
www.implicit.harvard.edu
and it's quite addictive.
