The Cows Are Green!
Dec. 4th, 2005 03:48 pmI guess this could be counted as the first "personal stuff" entry of my live journal.
Yesterday was my first experience of Dragonmeet, and it was incredibly cool. I got dice, I bought the Affils books and, against my original intentions, took part in a very silly roleplaying session.
On arrival,
cholten99 and I browsed the afternoon sign up sheets and were intrigued by the Runequest one, which had a description of "Roll up! Roll up! A penny to see the green cows! Why are the cows green? Nobody knows! Play this adventure and maybe find out!" It was too intriguing to pass up, so we duly put our names down and turned up at the appropriate time. We were the only names on the list at the time the adventure was due to start, but
cholten99 drafted a young man by the name of Connor, who was wandering around aimlessly, to come and join us.
The GM, Mark, gave us a selection of six characters to choose from: I snaffled Daniel the farmer (and, much to the amusement of everyone, proceeded to roleplay him with a broad West Country accent for the next two and a half hours),
cholten99 took Julian the sorceror (and bizarrely kept going comedy northern), and Connor was Freidrick the carpenter (though he seemed more interested in destroying things than building things). I'm certain Mark had no idea what he was letting himself in for - he certainly wasn't expecting the 13-year-old draftee to be the one who drove the plot forward and came up with most of the sensible ideas, while the two "adult" players faffed about having silly conversations in equally silly accents!
A more detailed account of The Mystery of the Green Cows will follow as soon as I can be bothered to write it...
