Last night, Dave and I went to see Paramore at the O2.

We had an excellent dinner at the Chinese buffet, with interesting conversation and an extended chilling period during which we read our books while waiting for it to be time to go in.

Hayley Williams, as I had expected, displayed very impressive showmanship and dominated the stage with tremendous energy and heart.

I really enjoyed the selection of acoustic songs they played in the middle, demonstrating what range of style she has.

Unfortunately, for some reason, during the louder songs, I could hardly make out her voice at all, which rather ruined what would otherwise have been an amazing show.

Then, the usual doom of trying to get home from the O2 ensued.  We were actually on the side of the venue right by the exit, so we didn't have to queue to get out, and in fact got straight on a pretty much empty tube train, which exceeded my wildest expectations.  We made it on to the 11:26pm train out of King's Cross with more than five minutes to spare, which would have got us home in only just over an hour.  Unfortunately, the driver of our train had failed to turn up and there was nobody spare to replace him, so the train was cancelled, resulting in a trek back down to the Piccadilly Line and a fifteen minute wait for a bus at Oakwood.  We finally fetched up back home well after midnight.

However, overall, I had a great evening (though Dave will probably not believe me, considering how much I whinged) - mostly due to the excellent company.
