The Frost Fair review
Jul. 8th, 2009 08:38 pmThe Frost Fair by Edward Marston is the Restoration-set series by the author of The Railway Detective. Much like the latter, it involves a very personable hero investigating a crime, and developing a romance with a very likeable herione. There are great peripheral characters, a little more excitement and violence than in The Railway Detective, but it has a similar, very enjoyable tone, and is an all-round fun read. I'm getting to like this author rather a lot - he's never going to set the literary world on fire, but I look forward to exploring more of his back catalogue, which is reassuringly extensive.
